The NCSPE maintains links to researchers, journals, newspapers and other organizations that offer diverse perspectives on educational privatization. Many sites are sponsored by organizations with strong political viewpoints, and include a broad range of positions for and against privatization. The NCSPE does not endorse these sites, and provides links to them as a public service.

Alabama Education Association (AEA)

 The Alabama Education Association (AEA) is the largest education association in the state of Alabama. The AEA is an advocate organization that leads the movement for excellence in education and is the voice of education professionals in Alabama. Alabama Association of School Boards (AASB)

 AASB's mission is to develop excellent school board leaders through quality training, advocacy and services. AASB is the official voice of the state's local school boards and other boards governing K-12 public education agencies. Arise Citizens  Policy Project

 Arise Citizens' Policy Project (ACPP) is a coalition of religious, community, and civic groups that promote state policies to improve the lives of low-income people. One of goals is  a state budget that provides equitable and adequate services for low-income people,  and education funding is one of their issue areas. Citizens for Better Schools

 Citizens for Better Schools is a committee of parents, community members, and school volunteers working together to promote quality education for all children in the Battle Ground School District. 2      Alaska            AK


Alaska Civil Liberties Union

 The ACLU of Alaska and the ACLU of Alaska Foundation are non-partisan organizations dedicated to advancing the cause of civil liberties in Alaska. The former fulfills its mission through legislative advocacy, coalition building, and grassroots advocacy. Anchorage Council of Education AFT

Association of Alaska School Boards

 The Association of Alaska School Boards is an organization representing school boards in Alaska. 3      Arizona           AZ


American Civil Liberties Union of Arizona

 The ACLU of Arizona was formed by a small group of civil libertarians who recognized the importance of having an institution that would stand in defense of liberty in this state. Those few shared the conviction that the preservation of liberty requires a vigilant defense of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. Arizona Education Association

 Arizona Education Association is the largest professional organization in Arizona. ACLU of Arkansas

Arkansas Advocates for Children and Families

 The Arkansas Advocates for Children and Families works to protect and promote the rights and well-being of children and families through research, education, and advocacy. Arkansas Education Association

Arkansas Public Policy Panel

 The Arkansas Public Policy Panel is a statewide organization dedicated to achieving social and economic justice by organizing citizen groups around the state, educating and supporting them to be more effective and powerful, and linking them with one another in coalitions and networks. ACLU of Northern California

 The ACLU of Northern California works to preserve and guarantee the protections of the Constitution's Bill of Rights. California Budget Project

 The California Budget Project engages in independent fiscal and policy analysis and public education with the goal of improving public policies affecting the economic and social well-being of low- and middle-income Californians. It aims to serve as an information and analysis resource on a variety of issues, including education, to the media, policymakers, and state and local constituency groups in order to affect policy relating to low- and middle-income Californians. The CBP presents testimony, written reports, and briefing materials to state and local policymakers and makes briefs, reports, and a quarterly newsletter, Budget Watch, available to the public.


California Federation of Teachers

 The California Federation of Teachers is the statewide affiliate of the American Federation of Teachers. The CFT represents faculty and other school employees in public and private schools and colleges, from early childhood through higher education.  (website quote)

 CSBA provides a sophisticated level of advocacy and policy analysis on behalf of public education and children. California Teachers Association

 Founded in 1863, the California Teachers Association has become one of the strongest advocates for educators in the country. CTA includes teachers, counselors, school librarians, social workers, psychologists, and nurses.  California Tomorrow, established in 1984, states that its mission is to facilitate institutional change and promote policies that build upon diversity and equity in schools and the community.  EdSource was originally established as the California Coalition for Fair School Finance in 1977 by the California Parent Teacher Association, the League of Women Voters of California, and the American Association of University Women, California chapter. Parents for Public Schools - San Francisco

ACLU of Colorado

 The ACLU of Colorado is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization dedicated to fulfilling the promise of equal justice under the law for all Coloradans. Our scope of work is fundamentally defined by one document, the Bill of Rights. The rights and freedoms contained within impact a wide range of issues, including free speech, freedom of religion, due process, privacy and equality for all people under the law. AFT Colorado

7      Connecticut   CT


American Civil Liberties Union of Connecticut

 The ACLU-CT is comprised of two separate entities, the American Civil Liberties Union of Connecticut and the American Civil Liberties Union Foundation of Connecticut. Although there is some overlap in the work done by each organization, certain activities the ACLU-CT does to protect civil liberties must be done by one organization and not the other. ACLU of Georgia

 The ACLU of Georgia comprises two separate corporate entities, the American Civil Liberties Union of Georgia, and the ACLU Foundation of Georgia. Consortium for Adequate School Funding in Georgia

 It was formed in 2001 to improve the financing of K-12 education in Georgia. The initial emphasis was on equity in the financing of Georgia's public schools, but in late 2003 the focus shifted to adequacy. All of the funds for public education must be spent wisely and effectively, but the current level of funding is not sufficient to prepare all of our students for constructive citizenship, meaningful employment, and life-long learning.  (website quote)

ACLU of Idaho

Idaho Federation of Teachers

The Idaho Federation of Teachers is the statewide affiliate of the American Federation of Teachers.   For 34 years the AFT has been the de facto faculty union for employee grievances on Idaho s campuses.  Our goal has always been to solve these problems without going to court, but when internal solutions have not been possible, our attorneys have been successful in 9 out of 11 major cases for a total of nearly $2 million in settlements and legal fees.  (website quote)

ACLU of Illinois

 The ACLU of Illinois (ACLU), and its affiliated Roger Baldwin Foundation (RBF), are non-partisan, non-profit organizations dedicated to protecting the liberties guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution, the state Constitution, and state/federal human rights laws. Illinois Association of School Boards

 The mission of the Illinois Association of School Boards is excellence in local school governance in support of quality public education. The Illinois Association of School Boards opposes payment of state funds directly or indirectly to non-public elementary and secondary schools. Illinois Education Research Council

Neighborhood Capital Budget Group

 The Neighborhood Capital Budget Group describes itself as a coalition of nearly 200 community-based organizations and local economic development groups in Chicago dedicated to improving the city's neighborhoods through well-planned, targeted public investment. ACLU of Indiana

Center for Evaluation and Education Policy

 The Center for Evaluation & Education Policy (CEEP) promotes and supports rigorous program evaluation and education policy research primarily, but not exclusively, for educational, human services, and nonprofit organizations. Indiana Federation of Teachers

 The Indiana Federation of Teachers is the state affiliate of the American Federation of Teachers and the AFL-CIO. IFT is the exclusive representative in 23 districts from Lake County to the Ohio River. We have certified teachers and non-certified employees in our membership. Indiana School of Board Admission

 ISBA s services range from legal advice; to school finance; to school board member seminars; to collective bargaining issues; and to legislative lobbyists working to impact state education laws and regulations. ACLU of Iowa

ACLU of Kansas and Western Missouri

 The American Civil Liberties Union of Kansas and Western Missouri has been dedicated to preserving and advancing the civil rights and legal freedoms guaranteed by the United States Constitution and the Bill of Rights.
