The NCSPE maintains links to researchers, journals, newspapers and other organizations that offer diverse perspectives on educational privatization. Many sites are sponsored by organizations with strong political viewpoints, and include a broad range of positions for and against privatization. The NCSPE does not endorse these sites, and provides links to them as a public service.


1.     Alabama        AL   


Alabama Policy Institute

 Alabama Policy Institute (API) is a non-partisan, non-profit research and education organization dedicated to the preservation of free markets, limited government and strong families, which are indispensable to a prosperous society.  (website quote)


2      Alaska            AK


Alaska Policy Forum

 The Alaska Policy Forum will be the primary resource for credible authoritative Alaska policy research and education from a conservative perspective. Alaska School Choice

 We are education consumers, and we want a quality product. We are dedicated to providing an effective alternative to the failing public schools. Some kids have an acceptable neighborhood school, and some are chosen (by lottery) for an effective charter school. But many are left behind. Parents who choose (or who have no choice but) to leave the public schools in favor of private, usually do so at their own expense, despite paying taxes for the failed public school. Our goal is for the money to follow the child, not the other way around.

Arizona Charter Schools Association  

 The Arizona Charter Schools Association (The Association) is a membership and professional organization providing the best in comprehensive support and services to Arizona s charter schools. Arizona Parents for Education  

 Arizona Parents for Education is a grassroots coalition of parents committed to ensuring that Arizona s public virtual schools continue as a viable option within our public school system. Arizona School Tuition Organization Association

 Arizona STO Association is a 501(c) 3 organization recognized by the Internal Revenue Service. Arkansas Charter School Resource Center  

  The mission of the ACSRC is to promote opportunities, through the charter school movement, that produce the dynamics necessary to bring about effective systematic changes in education, within a publicly funded budget that is pragmatic, reasonable, cost efficient, and cost effective. The charter school movement is instrumental as one approach to the ultimate goal, which is comprehensive change in the delivery of public education. Alliance College-Ready Public Schools

 The BASIC Fund (Bay Area Scholarships for Inner-City Children) is a privately funded program whose mission is to broaden the educational opportunities for inner-city children by helping low-income families afford the cost of tuition at private schools in the Bay Area. California Charter Schools Association  

 The California Charter Schools Association is the membership and professional organization serving charter schools in California. The Association advances the charter school movement through state and local advocacy, leadership on quality and extensive resources. The public policy agenda of the California Charter Schools Association reflects the priorities, current issues, and concerns of the 912 charter schools in the state, as well as the charter school movement nationwide. California Parents for Educational Choice

The Guardsmen Scholarship Fund  

 The Guardsmen's scholarship and campership programs mean that every year kids who otherwise would not have a chance at success are given the opportunity to excel as productive members of society. The Guardsmen Scholarship program offers scholarships to low-income Bay Area residents. Students must be entering a grade between K - 6 and then will automatically receive scholarships through 12th grade if they continue to meet requirements.   (website quote)


ICEF Public Schools

 ICEF Public Schools is a nonprofit charter school management organization serving communities in the South Los Angeles area. We operate high-quality, tuition-free, public charter elementary, middle and high schools. The Independent Scholarship Fund  

 The Independent Scholarship Fund provides tuition assistance to low- to moderate-income families in Contra Costa and Alameda counties for K-12 private or parochial schools. ISF aims to help families achieve freedom of choice in education by awarding scholarships to low and moderate income families in Contra Costa and Alameda counties. ISF scholarships award recipients either $1,500 or 75% of tuition.  (website quote)


Pacific Legal Foundation

 PLF's litigation focuses on three major projects: to defend the fundamental human right of private property; to promote sensible environmental policies that respect individual freedom and put people first; and to create a nation in which people are judged by the content of their character and not the color of their skin. Southern California Children's Scholarship Fund
 SCCSF offers tuition assistance to low income families who cannot afford private school costs. We are a branch of the larger Children s Scholarship Fund. In 2010, we expect to give out 1,121 scholarships to students in Los Angeles.  (website quote)

Alliance for Choice in Education  

 ACE is a Denver, Colorado non-profit focused on low-income scholarships and school choice programs. Through charitable contributions from private citizens, corporations and foundation, we raise funds to provide partial tuition scholarships to low-income children in grades K-12 so they may attend a quality private school and get the head start they need to be successful beyond high school   in college, in their career and in life.    (website quote)

Education Reform Now (ERN) -- CO

 The Colorado branch of Education Reform Now focuses on underserved urban areas as well as the education policy work of our legislators in Denver. ERN envisions an America whose commitment to social justice is realized by every child having the social and economic opportunity afforded by a quality public education, regardless of race, gender, geography, or socio-economic status. Achieving this vision necessitates a powerful chorus of voices within the education policy debate advancing a true agenda of reform, and speaking up on behalf of America's children. Greater Educational Opportunities (GEO) Foundation Colorado

7      Connecticut   CT


CEO Foundation of Connecticut
 CEO provides low-income students in Connecticut equal access to education by awarding scholarships to help cover tuition expenses. Today, there have been almost 400 scholarship recipients. Our scholarship program gives elementary school children from low-income families the opportunity to attend the private or parochial school of their choice.


Connecticut Coalition for Achievement Now  

 "ConnCAN partners with parents, educators, students, civic groups, businesspeople, community leaders and others to build a grassroots movement to effect fundamental changes in our urban public schools." (website quote)


The Greater Hartford Regional School Choice Office

 The Regional School Choice Office ("RSCO") serves families interested in public school choice options in the Greater Hartford Region. Dedicated and knowledgeable RSCO staff provide information and assistance to parents and students exploring a wide-range of Pre-kindergarten through grade 12 educational opportunities. Delaware Charter Schools Network

 Floridians for School Choice is a web-based, statewide, nonpartisan, citizen organization dedicated to advancing public awareness of the benefits of school choice for children, families, schools, and the taxpayers. The organization s mission is to allow parents to choose where to send their children to school. Step Up for Students

 Step Up For Students was created to help alleviate the enormous educational challenges faced by children in Florida who live near poverty. The program provides Tax Credit Scholarships to students in K-12 who come from low-income families. Stand for Children -- IL

 Our strength lies in an engaged and effectively organized constituency of parents and educators bringing a nuanced grasp of the policies that improve student achievement; and the grassroots, direct lobbying and electoral capacity it takes to win. Through collaboration with the teachers unions, school management groups and community organizations we were collectively able to pass Senate Bill 7 through the General Assembly in May, 2011. Greater Educational Opportunities (GEO) Foundation Indiana
 GEO Foundation, as featured in Forbes Magazine, has been making access to quality schools a reality for children since 1998. GEO incubates quality charter schools and then supports their growth. All four GEO-sponsored public charter schools are high academic growth schools and feature a unique K-14 model--full day kindergarten all the way through two years of college. GEO seeks to provide greater access to quality education for all kids. Indiana School Scholarship Tax Credit

 The Indiana School Scholarship Tax Credit is designed to provide scholarship support for thousands of low and middle income families to enroll their children into the private or public school of their choice. Funding for these scholarships will come from private, charitable donations to qualified scholarship granting organizations (SGOs).  Donors (individuals or corporations) would be eligible to take advantage of a 50% credit against their state tax liability for contributions made to an SGO.  The program is entirely privately-funded, with an incentive to charitable giving from the tax credit.  (website quote)

School CHOICE Scholarships, Inc.
 We serve low-income children and their families, who want their children to attend the quality school of their choice located throughout Jefferson County. Algiers Charter Schools Association (ACSA)

Maine Children's Scholarship Fund
 The Maine Children's Scholarship Fund (MCSF) provides scholarships to Maine children in kindergarten through twelfth grade to help pay for part of public or private school tuition, or toward home schooling expenses. BOAST Maryland

 BOAST Maryland is a statewide coalition dedicated to ensuring that every K-12 student in Maryland has access to high-quality, diverse, and affordable educational opportunities. Children's Scholarship Fund Baltimore
 Children's Scholarship Fund Baltimore provides privately-funded, partial scholarships for children from low-income Baltimore families, to help them attend schools their parents choose. CSF has awarded over 500 students with scholarships since Spring 2009. The average scholarship is $1,798.  (website quote)

 We are the leading voice for Massachusetts  children, and the Commonwealth s only statewide grassroots education advocacy group. Kids First Scholarship Fund of Minnesota  

 KidsFirst is a non-sectarian partial scholarship program for children entering Kindergarten through eighth grade in the St. Paul/Minneapolis, MN metro area.  The fund pays up to 75% of tuition per year to qualified applicants. KidsFirst focuses on elementary education because the earlier a child receives sound schooling, the better.
